Escape to Chimp Eden: Episode 7 - Bonobos 2 Jinga

April 19, 2008 by Healthy Shana

jinga.jpgBack in episode 5 of Escape to Chimp Eden we met the Angolan Girls that were being introduced to the adult enclosure. Now Jinga, who is a new 13 year old female chimp, is going to be introduced to this already established family group with the 3 males and 3 Angolan females. She’s going to first me introduced to the three females, Mimi, Gita and Lika. Now if you recall these were some feisty girls that were NOT taking any mess from the 3 males that had already been living in the enclosure.

Gita was actually very friendly and started off by giving Jinga a hug, but Mimi was kind of in her own world and not paying any attention. Eugene was really more worried about introducing her to the boys and hoping that a fight wouldn’t break out. He even thought about dispersing some bullets over the walls of the enclosure in case anything happens. Check back to see what happens as well as how Jinga interacts with the female chimps and those rowdy male chimps.

Boy Meets Girl - Escape to Chimp Eden

April 14, 2008 by Healthy Shana

chimp-eden.jpgIn episode 5 of Escape to Chimp Eden we were introduced to the Angolan Girls and the struggles that they went through prior to him rescuing them from Angola.

Eugene was worried about introducing the three new girls to the male chimps in the adult compound and wasn’t sure what to do because these male chimps were known to be violent and aggressive. The Angolan Girlshad been in quarantine for a period of three months and are now ready to be released.

When the male chimps saw the female chimps they literally went crazy through the bars, and the females hadn’t even entered the same compound area as the males yet. Mimi is the first female chimp to join in with the males. They just chased her around but didn’t get too aggressive. She just acted like she was happy to be free. She had been caged up for so many years when in Angola and hadn’t even touched grass with her feet before.
