From the forests of Puerto Rico to the jungles of Central America to the high Sierras of the American West, the world’s frogs are mysteriously vanishing. Experts believe that as many as one-third to one-half of the planet’s 5,743 known amphibian species are in danger of disappearing — victims of the most significant mass extinction since the dinosaurs.
THE VANISHING FROG, a new documentary from Animal Planet in partnership with The Clorox Company, sends Jeff Corwin on an international mission to uncover clues about the frogs’ deadly plight.

I found a really cool link to some amazing research that the local news has been doing in Charleston, South Carolina. It seems that Local News 4 Charleston has been taking the lead from Discovery Channels, Dirty Jobs and checking out the Dirty Jobs of the Low Country, as areas of Savannah, GA and South Carolina are refer erred to.

Every wondered about the science behind the JKF assassination? Well it seems like the guys over at Discovery have been thinking long and hard about this and marking the 45th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Discovery Channel examines that fateful day in Dallas.
The documentary uses modern blood spatter analysis, new artificial human body surrogates, and 3-D computer simulations to then determine where the shot occurred. According to the documentary, the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository was the most likely origin of the shot that killed the 35th president of the United States.

In August, after the Obamas first said they were considering getting a dog, more than 42,000 Americans cast their vote in an American Kennel Club poll to suggest the right breed for the family.
The poodle was chosen from five hypoallergenic breeds. (Malia suffers from allergies. A Portuguese Water Dog also passes the allergy test.)
Claire McLean, founder of the Presidential Pet Museum, part of Presidents Park in Williamsburg, Va doesn’t think a poodle is a good choice.
“It’s one of the most popular breeds, yes, but it’s a snob dog. I don’t think it’s right for them.”

Save The Frogs with Animal Planet

This fall, Animal Planet will be airing a documentary from biologist Jeff Corwin called The Vanishing Frog.
You can find out more at www.savethefrog.com, a Web site created by the Amphibian Ark and The Clorox Company dedicated to increasing awareness of the amphibian extinction crisis.
Recently, Corwin visited Kings Canyon in the Sierra Nevadas where he met with biologist Vance Vredenburg to learn more about the California yellow-legged frog.
