Man vs Wild Episode 3 – Ring of Fire
May 26, 2008 by Healthy Shana
The Man vs Wild, “Ring of Fire” episode premiered on Discovery Channel on Friday, May 16th. The “Ring of Fire” region is a 400 km horseshoe shaped area that is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The ‘Ring of Fire” has 452 volcanoes hosts 90% of the worlds earthquakes.
In this episode, Bear spends a week showing the viewers how to survive as well as navigate your way out of this region that was devastated by the 2004 Tsunami. As usual, the episode starts with Bear dropping out of his helicopter into a swamp. As he makes his way out the swamp he can already see some of the damage that has been left behind by the Tsunami. The first thing that he eats is a centipede, which he explains is a good source of protein.
Again the next morning he does us that favor that we’ve been looking for and eats a beetle larva. The episode continues with him trying to get his bearings and navigating the area. He tried to get some fishing done but then the rain scared the fish away. There’s more to come in episode 2 as episode one was mainly just a navigation episode.
