Deadliest Catch Episode 3 Recap - A Numbers Game

by Healthy Shana on May 21st, 2008

deadliestcatch2.jpgThe Deadliest Catch episode titled “A Numbers Game” originally aired on Discovery Channelon April 22nd. This episode brings us into week three of not much fish catching and just alot of horsing around, to me, on the part of the guys on the boats.

On the Time Bandit, Captain Hillstrand is happy to see that they are pulling in full pots of crab. The morale on this ship is pretty high and they talk about lucky cowboy hats as well as show clips of Scottie when he was a little boy with his family and also pay tribute to his grandfather which basically started all of this for them. Its been 19 days so far of the crab fishing season and the Time Bandit’s are the first guys to get paid for red crab!

Over on The Northwestern, Captain Sig Hansen is also happy to see that his pots are coming up full just like the guys over at the Time Bandit. They got Jake the Greenhorn to count all the crabs that come up, but the Captain is starting to thing that the count isn’t right. There’s alot of yelling and humiliation going on and Jake has to wear a silly belt to be reminded that the count has to be done correctly.

Just like over at The Northwestern and the Time Bandit, The Wizard is also fairing well with an increase in their counts as well. Nothing exciting happens on this vessel. They did have a leak though, which could have potentially killed all the crab. They scramble around to find a temporary fix for the problem.

These guys are not making chum change and all the like risking seems to be paying off. Early Dawn pulled in $2 million for their haul of brown crab. But I guess that’s nothing compared to what they could possibly get for some red crab. The captain, Rick Fehst, is trying to get quickly to Dutch Harbor before the storm comes and also catch up the red crab season.

And finally, over at the Cornelia Marie, Captain Phil is not happy. It seems like none of the captains are really happy this week. The Cornelia Marie is having alot of bad luck and little crabs to fill the pots. Clearly Phil is exhausted and they get caught in the storm while trying to retrieve all thier pots. Phil falls asleep after being up for 3 days straight.
