Mythbusters Dynamite Dog

by Healthy Shana on May 10th, 2008

mythbusters.jpgOn the most recent episode of Mythbusters they took on Alaska and tried to debunk a series of myths for Alaska Week. The episode, as always, featured 3 myths that surround the state of Alaska. The first myth on deck was the dynamite dog experiment. Adam and Jaimie were tasked to explain to us the myth about the Alaskan fisherman who was basically too lazy to ice fish the traditional way and decided to use a stick of dynamite to blast through the ice.

Well, lo and behold, he has a genius of a Golden Retriever dog, who does what all golden retrievers do and returns the stick of dynamite to the unsuspecting fisherman. So the dog decides to hide behind the fisherman’s truck with the stick as the stick blows up EVERTHING and SINKS the SUV. Its kinda sad now that you think about it…does the dog get blown up in the process. PETA, don’t call me! Get the Mythbusters.

So you know the Mythbusters drill. They do their preliminary testing inside and outside the controlled environment before actually doing the test full scale. They even go as far as blowing up a SUV. I wonder that their budget is for each episode. So when they blew up the SUV the dynamite doesn’t really do much. The ice is barely cracked and the truck has so minor scratches that even my insurance would pay for.

Officially the myth is BUSTED as the ice is too thick for the dynamite to get through…we just end up with a dented SUV and a dead dog.
