Season Premier - Alaska Experiment

by Healthy Shana on April 10th, 2008

A new show will premier on Discovery Channel on April 22 at 10PM. The show is titled Alaska Experiment  and will chronicle what happens when four teams of urban professionals try to survive the wilderness of Alaska.

The four teams will be in the Alaskan wilderness for a total of 3 months and is basically a man vs nature type show…hoping that man wins?!? The teams are all going to be in four very distinctive areas of Alaska and will learn how to hunt, fish and gather their own firewood. Does this sound like Survivor to anyone?

This show seems to be fitting everything that Discovery is all about this season and will also premier during Alaska Week. You can meet the participants of Alaska Experiment on their site.

This show looks great. Im a 26 year old blackjack dealer and my girlfriend is a 25 year old web designer and that looks like a lot of fun. If you need an over weight couple to go and face nature for 3 months pick us.

The Dad and 2 daughters are never going to make it after seeing the first show. Who cares that much about the directions of shoes.

A reality show involving families with kids would be great. Alaska would probably be a little harsh due to the number of bears. But if you come up with something let me know.

Maybe one of the groups will get to see an elusive Sasquatch.

This show brings me home! I was watching it with my kids ….who are dying to get out there. I grew up in a remote fishing communitysouth of Yakutat Alaska, living in a tent, dealing with bears, moose, and wolverine each day. And of course all there was to do is gather supplies and read books! I think the first thing that will happen to these people is all mental. You become de-socialized very quickly, and for those who are not used to it, they can go crazy quickly. (Especially for kids who do not get to experience a summer with friends). However, if you can sit back and enjoy, there is nothing better….to this day the sound of rain keeps me sleeping, and the sound of crashing waves lulls me to sleep. Some of the best rations, are games! What a great place, I miss it and am enjoying the show!

From Vietnam to Central America finishing my career with a final combat tour in Iraq as a Black Hawk Helicopter pilot. I would be interested in trying out for season two. Hi folks! This is Allan (Flower Lake) from the show. I’m glad to hear you folks ‘get it’. I applied to the show strictly for the experience and adventure and got a lot more than I expected. As low as the lows were, it was phenomenal because the highs were worth it. All the folks involved from the producers to the Clauses are incredible and inspirational people a well as the participants. Though, I never got to meet the Wise family. So much more happened than they have time to show. We did take 7 hours to reach our cabin but the 2 miles was as a crow flies. They didn’t have room to show in detail the gnarly river crossing or just how difficult the swamp or bushwacking with a 65 lb. pack was. In other words, there was SO MUCH challenge and adventure! And it is harder than you can imagine. I have been a triathlete, adventure racer and muay thai fighter. I hope you reach for your dreams. I applied and thought, ‘they’ll never pick me’…

Exciting Experience. Being from Texas I give those TWO; Greg & Bernice alot of credit THEY had the family watching the first episode on the EDGE of their seats. Although they did not make it to their cabin on the first day the folks at home thought we’d have to go to bed and know know it they made it to the cabin on the 1st episode. GREAT they made it! We’ll be watching the next episode.

To be honest, at first glance, it dosen’t look like any of the teams will make it. But they might suprize us…

Would like to go to Alaska for 3 months, but not that time of year, just got into gold prospecting a couple years ago.

I’ve panned about $200 worth, and it probably only cost $300 to do it……..

If you do a Alaska experiment for the summer months, I might be interested….

Otherwise I’ll just watch from a slightly warmer location….. Cleveland, Ohio

We spent several hours the other day catching up on every episode of this first season of the Alaskan Experiment. We LOVE the whole idea of the show!!!!
Not only do we hope that there are more seasons to follow, but we would love to participate in the experiment.
Not only would we like to do it, but my sis-in-law would like to join in as well as her husband if he is back from Iraq when the chance opens up.

A rough season in the wilds Alaska or the craziness of civilization these days??? - - - I’ll choose the wilds every time : )

My boyfriend, a horse trainer, and I, an artist, were born and raised in Texas and were very interested when they said at the end of the show that there was going to be another Alaska Experiment, and think it would be an awesome experience. I am a Texas Ranger and a martial arts madman. I would be perfect for this “alaska experiment.” Except, instead of me going to alaska and trying to survive for three months, alaska comes to ME and tries to survive for three SECONDS.

ALASKA EXPERIMENT IS GREAT!! I did not get to see the original episodes starting in April 2008. I saw reruns of Episode 1-4. Does anyone know how or where I can watch FULL versions of Episodes 5-8, not just video clips?
